Glasgow Construction Team Volunteer To Help Most in Need

A team of helping hands from Renfrew-based The JR Group have been very busy during lockdown, using its team while construction remains on restriction, to help those most in need during the pandemic.

The group donned their overalls and helped homeless charity Social Bite move furniture, household appliances and various belongings from The Hamish Allan Centre in Tradeston to new accommodation on Great Western Road. The team also got involved in delivering food to the homeless across the Southside and Glasgow City Centre.

The construction firm were also very busy helping the Royal Voluntary Service transport more than 300 food parcels from Galashiels to Perth for over 75’s who weren’t able to get out to the shops for provisions.

To show its thanks and support to the NHS, The JR Group erected  massive multi-coloured rainbow netting along a section of Clydeside flats which had scaffolding around them to remove fire damage, showcasing a proud display at the heart of the City Centre.

John Horne, Managing Director for The JR Group, said: “Like many businesses we have been greatly affected as a result of the pandemic, with most of our operations coming to a standstill.

“We wanted to use this down time to help people and communities most in need and our generous team were more than willing to get their hands dirty and help out with delivering food and provisions and helping Social Bite with a move to new premises.

“We were also in the unique position to have scaffolding across a prominent part of the Clydeside in Glasgow City Centre so used this to show our thanks and support to all the brave men and women on the front line helping us get through this incredibly challenging time and try to put a smile on the faces of the people of Glasgow.

“As a team we feel a great responsibility to help local communities in anyway we can, so I am sure our volunteering endeavors will continue as we start to emerge out of lockdown and begin getting back to work.

The JR Group employs around 170 staff and was founded in 1995.
